Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.
(Surah Al-‘Asr, 103:3)
Whenever I feel anxious, usually from being unsure of what to do next, whether I am being/doing ‘good’ enough, these verses from the Quran (Surah Al-Asr’ – a short but impactful surah) remind and comfort me. They are like instructions.
- Believe in God and have faith. Things are all OK. Alhamdulillah.
- Do something good, even if it is simple, like smiling, or taking deep breaths and thanking God for it. Just move forward with one thing. Do one thing with good intentions. And then can do the next thing.
- Encourage others to truth… being kind and good to others and perhaps we may both be guided to truth. Being truthful to myself too – like challenging (untrue) negative thoughts.
- Advise each other, and that includes myself, to have patience. God is with me, with us.
Somehow I feel reassured. Alhamdulillah.
