Been battling low moods – So here’s what I did to tide me through the torrent of low energy, low motivation and low sense of self-confidence.
- Fake it ’til you make it! – I forced myself to practice gratitude. Breathe, smell the fresh air, alhamdulillah I have another day to live, another day to make small positive differences to my world. Smile! Greet others with love. Get up from the chair and move and do good work! Ignoring you, low mood!
- Music, Please! – I listened to my favourite (positive) energizing music that uplifted me and gave me energy to take a walk and exercise.
- Can we talk about it? – Even though I felt self-indulgent for feeling low mood, I knew I needed to talk it out with my trusted ones – my husband who is my best friend through all this, my colleagues who understood me, and my case manager whom I texted and gave me support. I felt uplifted and positive again, and it brought me back to my usual chirpy self. Alhamdulillah!!!
So now my mood is back up – and I feel good. Alhamdulillah. If you feel low, think of it as a passing cloud that you will say bye bye to. And that you are not alone, never will be. God gives tests to those whom He loves. Fight on!
